5 certification in western Europe. In Spain, ITENE can also issue certificates. This means that many companies must send pallet loads long distances – something Trioplast wants to change.   “At Trioplast we are looking at the pos- sibility of setting up a certification center in Smålandsstenar. Its geographical prox- imity would make things easier for Nordic companies,” concludes Niklas. EVERY YEAR, in April or May, Tri- oplast have a visit from engineering students on the Chalmers Master’s programme in Chemistry and Chem- ical Engineering. The annual visit has taken place since 2010. In addition to a lecture they get the opportunity to see the complexity of manufacturing in reality, while learning more about processing techniques. The future belongs to plastics engineers The study visit is part of the Polymer Technology course and many of the students are aiming to become the plastics engineers of the future – ex- pertise that is in great demand. The students appreciate the visit to Trio- plast and are always impressed by the company, comments Christian Müller, professor at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. CHALMERS MAKES ITS ANNUAL VISIT TO TRIOPLAST “When we are in the classroom I can only teach the theoretical aspects, so the visit is a very important for the pro- gramme. And the visit gives the students a good insight into the type of company that they may consider working for in the future,” he says.   At Trioplast, the engineering students see the entire industrial production line, including plastic film blowing and extru- sion.   “This year, the lecture focused a lot on recycling and sustainability issues. Being a company that truly cares about the environment is something that goes down very well with Chalmers students”, concludes Christian Müller.
