15 WE MAKE WHAT WE SAY A REALITY THE BEWI SYNBRA GROUP MINIMIZES ITS ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT rond Bekken is Purchasing Man- ager at the BEWi Synbra Group, an international packaging and in- sulation company. Together with his colleagues he is now marking the way for a business with a clear focus on the environment and sus- tainability. There will be a strong chain all the way from purchasing and production to delivery to the customer and then back again into production in an eco-smart closed circle. Trioplast are experts on recycling Sustainability and a clear environmen- tal approach was one of the factors that brought the BEWi Synbra Group and Trio- plast together. Trioplast works actively to increase the percentage of recycled plas- tic in its production and that appealed to the BEWi Synbra Group and Trond in his role as Purchasing Manager. For Trioplast, the focus on recycling has been a self- evident part of the business for many years.   “Recycling has been shown to have the most favourable effect regarding the envi- ronment and sustainability. Of course we recycle our own plastic, but we also buy in plastic waste exactly like we buy in any kind of raw material,” says Marianne Nushi, CSR & Environmental Manager at Trioplast. The knowledge about recycling that Trioplast possesses is a clear benefit for the BEWi Synbra Group, considers Trond.   “Trioplast has considerable knowledge about recycling. This knowledge can be very useful for the BEWi Synbra Group in order to live up to our environmental am- bitions and sustainability targets. Quite simply, we need partners like Trioplast who have already come a long way in this process and have the advanced expertise that we lack today,” he says. From small beginnings The BEWi Group has a history of rapid development and a similarly fast rate of growth – from the small factory on the is- land of Fröya that produced fish boxes for the Norwegian fishing industry to a major international company in packaging solu- tions.   With committed owners who manage the growth rate at a strategic level and all the skilled staff, a successful team is cre- ated that works together in a clearly de- fined direction. The short decision-making paths at the BEWi Synbra Group create an inclusive culture that is stimulating and enjoyable to work in.   “What makes the BEWi Synbra Group so successful is all the engaged staff members at different levels of the com- pany that drive development forwards. You cannot rest on your laurels in our in- dustry – you have to proactively develop the whole time. There are quite simply always things that can be done better. Now, our major focus area is packaging solutions that are more climate-smart,” says Trond. Products, servicing and support The partnership with Trioplast began 18 months ago. Trioplast was one of the few companies that could supply what the BEWi Synbra Group required and there- fore became the obvious choice for a busi- ness partner.   The BEWi Synbra Group has a total of 28 factories in Europe and at present, Tri- oplast supplies around 40 different prod- ucts to the group’s 14 factories in the Nor- dic countries. And in addition to a broad product range, Trioplast can also offer a local presence with servicing and support in Sweden and Finland.   “Having a total supplier and a contact point regardless of whether it concerns products, servicing or support makes things simple for us,” concludes Trond.
